We’ve had Alexa for a few months now. We even added an Echo Dot because it’s easier to take out to our patio and link with our speakers. That’s a whole other story 🙂
Alexa is just as popular with the kids as she was she I first got her. A few of their favorite ways to entertain themselves (in between yelling matches to changing songs)-
1. Playing “it’s raining tacos”
OMG this song is stuck in my head. It’s the only song they can agree on when it plays
2. Laugh Box
“Alexa, open the laugh box” The kids absolutely love this. The great thing is, even when Alexa has no idea what they are saying she replies with “I can’t find that one but here’s [insert laugh type here].
3. Magic door
“Alexa, open the Magic Door” The Magic Door is an interactive adventure game with original stories. Let Alexa know what choices to make as you navigate a forest, a garden, or an ancient temple. You can find hidden items, solve riddles, and help magical creatures. You can also find magical items to get a prize!(Amazon Official Description)
4. List
One of my favorite things about Alexa is the ability to create a list. This way, when I realize I’m out of something I can say “Alexa, add (whatever it is) to my grocery list.
Then, using the IFTTT app it puts it into my IOS Reminders app and when I’m at the grocery store it’s right there. I no longer have to worry about leaving my list at home. Here’s the problem though. The kids have picked up on how to do this so I hear this alot..
“Alexa. Add Nutella to the grocery list”
“Alexa, add chocolate to the grocery list”
“Alexa, add marshmallow cereal to the grocery list”
5. Deal or No Deal?
Kids Bored? Play Deal or No Deal with Alexa! My kids are too small to try and keep up with any of the cases however they get a kick out of being able to respond deal or no deal to her.
These are great ideas for using Alexa! I had no idea there were games!
Thanks Emily! Yeah there’s a few different ones including Bingo (we haven’t tried that one yet.
